This Friday Manson Elementary staff collaborated and reflected on their recent instructional rounds. Instructional rounds are a way for teachers to watch their colleagues teach so they can learn from each other. One of the most important steps of this strategy is creating time and space for reflection. This is all being spearheaded by our amazing Reading Specialist Cassie Williams. We are lucky to have Cassie at Manson Elementary!

Mr. Fox's bowling unit officially rolled into action this week. All 2nd - 5th graders not only learn the basics of bowling: stance, aim, foot pattern...they also learn how to score using the complicated scoring rules. This unit always brings a lot of smiles, high fives, teamwork, and MATH to the gym!

Yesterday we celebrated Read Across America Day at Manson Elementary! Our 5th Annual Bookmark Contest winners are… drumroll please… 2nd grader Nikolas and 5th grader Sky! Their creative designs truly wowed us.

Its National School Breakfast Week and we're on a quest for school breakfast!

Did you know that students who eat breakfast the morning of a standardized test achieve 17.5% higher scores on average than those who do not eat breakfast? Stop by the cafeterias in the morning before class and enjoy a tasty selection of items including homemade biscuits, fresh fruit, and a variety of entrees. Kindergarteners are learning how to keep a steady beat in Mrs. Whitney's music class.

Manson 9th graders had a fantastic visit to Central Washington University, sponsored by Gear Up. Students toured campus tour, enjoyed awesome food, experienced the very cool planetarium and even spotted some Manson alumni along the way. Experiences like these help students start imagining their future after high school!

Manson High School was selected as the smallest school in a highly competitive field to receive a $100,000 grant from Microsoft, a major recognition of our school and staff! A team of Manson teachers and administrators recently traveled to the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington to attend the AI conference and grant-kick off event! With this grant, Manson will develop a project focused on building student responsibility, resourcefulness, and resilience with AI as a support tool in high school. Manson’s goal is to prepare graduates to use AI ethically, safely, and responsibly as part of their future education, careers, and daily life!

Last week's Talent Show at Manson Elementary was awesome! Thank you Mrs. Whitney for organizing this event and inspiring our students. Each 4th and 5th grade performer was so brave and talented. Many different styles of dances were performed, several instruments were beautifully played; a science experiment was masterfully conducted; and the event was hosted by the one and only Owen Steiner (5th grade) who shared classic knee-slapping jokes between performances. What a fun night. Below are a few pictures of just some of our performances.

Fueling our students with flavor and nutrition this week at Manson Schools! 🍎🥦

Elementary students enjoyed a fan favorite, Teriyaki Dippers, while all campuses stayed stocked with our fresh fruit & vegetable bars packed with colorful, crisp options. At the secondary school, our kitchen team whipped up 300 homemade chocolate cream pies for a sweet Valentine's Day treat!

Manson Ag Science class travelled to the Tri Cities area visiting Goose Ridge Estates, WSU Viticulture and Enology program and Three Rivers Convention Center on February 10th to learn about careers in the Ag and Viticulture Industry.

Today 23 of our amazing middle school students were recognized for showing high growth in both reading and math from fall to winter based on their STAR assessment at an assembly. Every middle schooler cheered loudly as their peers were recognized. 79% of our students showed high growth in math or reading! Great things continue happening in Manson.

Thank you to our amazing custodial team for ALL the work you do to support our students and staff. During Hope Week Juan went above and beyond to set up events and continued his work to keep our facilities looking great!
