“We’ve noticed a big shift in how students carry themselves,” Elementary School Counselor Zach Phelps said. “They’re more confident, more responsible, and more thoughtful in how they treat others. The 7 Habits aren’t just something we talk about; they’re becoming part of how students learn, lead, and work together every day.”

At Manson Elementary, leadership isn’t just for the grown-ups! This year, two outstanding 5th-grade students—Lainey Peterson and Cote Zuluaga—stepped into the big shoes of school leadership as they each took on the role of Principal for a Day. These two young leaders earned the honor through the PTAC Auction, and they made the most of every moment!
Each student had their own special day to shine. From the moment they walked through the doors, Lainey and Cote were ready to lead with confidence, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart.
Their day began with a meeting at the District Office with none other than Superintendent Mires. During the meeting, the girls shared their insights and ideas like seasoned pros. One of them even got to help pick out the colors for the Early Learning Center playground—a decision that will brighten the school for years to come! The other gave a thoughtful report on the exciting happenings in the Kindergarten classroom, showing just how tuned in they were to the needs of younger students.
As honorary principals, Lainey and Cote got the ultimate VIP tour of the school. Not only did they visit every classroom and greet students and staff, but they also explored places most people never see—including the attic and the basement!
No principal duties would be complete without a proper lunch break, and these two were treated to a delicious meal from Lakeview Drive-Inn. It was a well-deserved treat after a morning of meetings, tours, and leadership duties. Lainey and Cote also met with several district leaders, and they both completed a walkthrough of the Early Learning Center and the High School. They made sure everyone was safe, happy, and having fun, just like any great principal would.
This special experience wasn’t just about fun (though there was plenty of that). It was a celebration of the leadership, responsibility, and creativity that our students bring to school every day. Lainey and Cote showed us all what it means to lead with kindness and confidence.
We’re so proud of our student principals and can’t wait to see where their leadership journeys take them next!

Congratulations to our 8th graders for all of their outstanding accomplishments! Their resiliency and determination has prepared them to soar in high school! Well done, Class of 2029!

On May 14, Manson Elementary welcomed a very special guest—The Tooth Fairy! Kindergarten, first, and second-grade students gathered for a fun and educational assembly presented by Delta Dental, in partnership with the School Nurses of Washington (SNOW).
The Tooth Fairy Experience is a unique program designed to teach young children about the importance of good oral hygiene. With more than 50% of all third graders having experienced tooth decay, early education is key. As students begin to lose baby teeth and grow permanent ones in these early grades, learning proper dental care habits now helps ensure healthy smiles for life.
The 30-minute assembly kept students engaged with dental health puppets, tooth science experiments, proper brushing techniques, and fun facts about teeth. A highlight of the program was a special reading of a book written just for this initiative—and of course, the appearance of the Tooth Fairy herself delighted the young audience!
To cap off the event, students received dental care items to take home, reinforcing the importance of maintaining a daily dental routine.
We’re grateful to Delta Dental and SNOW for bringing this meaningful and magical experience to our school!

We’re excited to announce that Manson’s new Early Learning Center (ELC) has received its very own Automated External Defibrillator (AED), thanks to a generous grant from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Jonah Schill from Lake Chelan EMS delivered the device in May to school nurse Michelle Rogge at Manson Elementary. This AED was installed promptly in the ELC, bringing our district-wide total to seven AEDs—including three that travel with athletic teams—significantly enhancing our emergency preparedness.
We extend our sincere thanks to OSPI for their support and to Lake Chelan Health/EMS for their ongoing partnership in helping us secure and install this life-saving equipment.
Together, we’re building a safer learning environment for every student.

Manson School District submitted 12 buses and six staff vehicles for inspection through the WA. State Patrol today. We had a 100% success in passing all vehicles. Lieutenant Brandon Drye, who was inspecting along with his officers, left a kind note on the district's success, Manson Transportation Mechanic and Bus Driver Travis Sweeny noted.
“In my 13 years with Manson, this is our best outcome on an inspection. I would like to thank our whole team for this success. Let's continue to take pride in our work as it really showed today!” Thanks, Travis and team! #WeAreManson
