Yesterday, Mike Suto from Franklin Covey’s Leader in Me program brought our secondary teachers together for leadership training that focused on reflection, growth, and leading with intention.
Leader in Me is centered around the idea that when we raise expectations, we help shape better outcomes—for our schools, our students, and our communities.
It’s a reminder that meaningful change happens in the small, everyday choices we make together.

At the July Manson School Board meeting, Edgar Salamanca—Program Director for Communities in Schools (CIS) North Central Washington—was honored with a certificate of recognition by Superintendent Tabatha Mires for his positive impact on youth across our region. Manson staff also gave well-deserved kudos to CIS superstars Celina Mendoza (elementary school) and Oscar Herrera (secondary school) for their amazing work with our students.
CIS's mission to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and succeed in life—and Edgar is proof of that mission in action. Born in Yakima, raised in Wisconsin, and now a Wenatchee resident of 13 years, Edgar brings heart and dedication to everything he does.
“Supporting students and families to ensure that they can be successful in all aspects of life is a lifelong goal of mine,” he said.

Eggcellent news! Every shell survived the first round of our summer school egg drop!
The tension was high, the boxes were sealed, and gravity was ready to do its worst… but guess what? Every. Single. Egg. Survived. Round one of the Great Egg Drop was a smashing success, minus the actual smashing part.
Round two, here we come. Let’s see if these shells can keep their streak alive. But for now, let’s give a big round of applause for the unbreakable creativity and teamwork that kept those eggs intact. 🎉🥳

Big congratulations to Manson students Kendal Alanis and Chloe Parkhurst, and the Feat of Freedom Dance team, who recently competed in The Spotlight Dance Cup: Pacific Northwest National Dance Finals in Seaside, Oregon. Their large group routine from the musical "Six" earned them first place overall in their division and category. Way to represent, ladies!
MS/HS students have started their summer school program using Summit K-12 to help strength English Language Development under the direction of Mr. Jorge Lopez. This program is funded through Title III and we are excited for the opportunity to continue learning over the next several weeks.
Our Summer Reading Academy at the elementary school is off to a fantastic start! With 75 enthusiastic students and seven dedicated staff members, our school is buzzing with energy, learning, and laughter. From diving into great books to engaging in hands-on literacy games, it’s clear this summer is going to be one to remember! Amelia Sivertson, Camille Hutton, Kaiden Zener, and Rylee Winters proudly represented Manson High School as part of the top two percent of FBLA student members nationwide who earned the honor of attending the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California, held from June 29 to July 2.
The event offered far more than just competition—it was a transformative experience that connected classroom learning with real-world business practice. The students took part in challenging events such as Future Business Leader, Accounting II, and International Business, testing their knowledge and skills on a national stage.
Beyond the competitions, the students benefited from direct exposure to industry leaders, hands-on workshops, and invaluable networking opportunities. These experiences provided a window into current business trends, leadership strategies, and the expectations of today’s professional world. Along the way, students honed essential soft skills like communication, teamwork, and decision-making—skills that will serve them well in any career path.
The conference also inspired personal growth, encouraging self-reflection, building confidence, and sparking a passion for leadership. It was a powerful stepping stone for these students, both academically and personally.

Juan steps into the role following the retirement of Margarito Barrios this past June, after many years of dedicated service to our schools.
Originally from Bridgeport, Juan and his family made Manson their home in 2016. Before joining the district, he worked as a merchandiser for Columbia Distributing. Now, he’s excited to be more involved in the Manson community through his work with the school district.
Juan has two children in the Manson School District — a daughter entering third grade and a son starting kindergarten.
We’re thrilled to have Juan on board. Welcome to the team!
