🔥 Fire Prevention Week at Manson Elementary!
Fire Prevention Week started today with hands-on fire safety lessons for our K–5 students! Volunteer Firefighter Wayne led the training, teaching students how to call 911, why it’s important to know their home address, and how to safely get out of their house if there’s a fire.
One of the most exciting moments was seeing our very own Manson High School Junior Firefighters, Mac and Austin, suit up in full turnout gear — including their oxygen tanks! 🚒 Students learned that while a firefighter in full gear might sound like Darth Vader, they can be easily identified by their yellow helmets and flashlights.
We are so grateful for our partnership with Manson Fire and their dedication to helping our students learn these lifesaving skills. 💙🔥

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week at Manson Elementary! 🔥🚒
We're excited to partner with the Manson Fire Department to bring our students valuable learning experiences during Fire Prevention Week, October 6–11, 2025.
From kindergarten through fifth grade, students will take part in interactive lessons with fire department staff as they learn about fire safety and prevention. The week will wrap up with a special visit from a fire truck, where students will get the chance to climb aboard and explore! 🚨👩🚒👨🚒
We can’t wait to spark curiosity and build important safety knowledge with our students! ❤️

Our elementary students rocked Health Screening Day!
Nearly 250 kids had their vision, hearing, height, and weight checked—all in just over 2 hours.
These screenings help make sure every student can see, hear, and learn their very best. Thanks to the Chelan Lions Club for making it possible!

Our 5th graders had a blast during their recent Apple Tree music activity! 🎵
Split into three instrument groups, students practiced keeping a steady beat, played 8th note patterns on xylophones, and worked on proper mallet grip and drum techniques — all while collaborating with partners. A fun and rhythmic way to review a variety of instruments!

🐟 Our third graders had an unforgettable day at Salmonfest!
They joined hundreds of local students exploring science, nature, and Native culture at Rocky Reach Dam. From hands-on learning to the traditional Salmon Dance, it was a powerful celebration of how the Columbia River connects us all. 🌊💙
Thank you to everyone who made this outdoor classroom come alive!

One of the highlights of this month was when Manson’s high school history teacher, Brad Soliday, traveled to the Stehekin School District to teach a fly fishing lesson, giving students a unique chance to connect with the outdoors through hands-on learning. By sharing his passion and expertise, he helped students build skills in patience, focus, and problem-solving while fostering an appreciation for the natural environment around them. This experience is a great example of how community partnerships extend beyond our own school walls, strengthening connections and creating meaningful opportunities for students in our wider region.

Did you know that using hands-on tools in math can boost student engagement and understanding? 🧮✨
Research shows that manipulatives—those physical objects like blocks or counters—help make abstract math concepts easier to grasp. By giving our Kindergarten students a concrete way to visualize and work through problems, they build a stronger foundation for future learning. The best part? These tools can be used again and again to reinforce key skills!

It takes a community to make great field trips come alive!
Mr. Helleson and Mrs. Wiggum brought nearly 60 health students to the lake yesterday for a five-hour water safety course with Jan Huddleston, Jessica Maisonnave, Joanie Bankson, and Viki Downey. Deputy Hunter, Kevin Amsden, and Manson alum Payton Stevens led 34 of the students through live boat driving lessons on the water.
Thank you to Shoreline who donated boats for the day, our instructors, and to our school district cooks, Westside Pizza, and PTAC for providing food for the day. We paddle-boarded, swam, and cruised the last bit of summer away, and our students took home valuable water safety skills.
We appreciate every member of our beautiful, BLUE community!

A HUGE congratulations to the following students who are on their way to earning a Seal of Biliteracy upon high school graduation. Students in 8th grade have had the opportunity to take an elective class led by Ann Marie Wisdom called STAMP. In class, students engage in learning tasks that strengthen their Spanish skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. In June 2025, these students took an assessment in Spanish called Avant STAMP. STAMP stands for Standards Based Measurement of Proficiency and can be used to show competency towards high school foreign language credit as well as to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. The Seal of Biliteracy is established to recognize public high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more world languages in addition to English. Students earn a Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diploma when they score a level 4 on the STAMP test and earn their high school English credits. The students pictured ALL earned a level 4 on their STAMP test!

International Dot Day celebrates creativity, courage, and collaboration, inspired by the book "The Dot," by Peter H. Reynolds, which motivates children to be creative with art even if they doubt their artistic abilities.
Yesterday, our preschool students decorated their own Dots and took part in a group project in honor of the day.
