It’s Been a Busy and Exciting Week at Manson Elementary!

Our students had an action-packed week of learning and community connections.
🔥 Fire Prevention Lessons: Firefighters Wayne and Raynor, along with Junior Firefighters Austin, Mac, Cooper, and Hannah, visited classrooms to teach students about fire safety and prevention.
❤️ Heart Health Education: Our 5th graders kicked off a heart education series with CVCH medical residents, led by Dr. Lemire and Dr. Snyder, learning all about how the heart works.
🚒 Grand Finale: To top off the week, Manson Fire Department’s ladder truck rolled into the parking lot during lunch recess for students to explore. Superintendent Mires and Principal Riippi were lucky enough to take a ride in the bucket!

We are thankful for our community partners who make learning engaging, fun, and full of real-world connections!

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTAC for funding the secondary art program — your support makes these inspiring projects possible!

🔥 Fire Prevention Week at Manson Elementary!

Fire Prevention Week started today with hands-on fire safety lessons for our K–5 students! Volunteer Firefighter Wayne led the training, teaching students how to call 911, why it’s important to know their home address, and how to safely get out of their house if there’s a fire.

One of the most exciting moments was seeing our very own Manson High School Junior Firefighters, Mac and Austin, suit up in full turnout gear — including their oxygen tanks! 🚒 Students learned that while a firefighter in full gear might sound like Darth Vader, they can be easily identified by their yellow helmets and flashlights.

We are so grateful for our partnership with Manson Fire and their dedication to helping our students learn these lifesaving skills. 💙🔥

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week at Manson Elementary! 🔥🚒

We're excited to partner with the Manson Fire Department to bring our students valuable learning experiences during Fire Prevention Week, October 6–11, 2025.

From kindergarten through fifth grade, students will take part in interactive lessons with fire department staff as they learn about fire safety and prevention. The week will wrap up with a special visit from a fire truck, where students will get the chance to climb aboard and explore! 🚨👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

We can’t wait to spark curiosity and build important safety knowledge with our students! ❤️

Our elementary students rocked Health Screening Day!

Nearly 250 kids had their vision, hearing, height, and weight checked—all in just over 2 hours.

These screenings help make sure every student can see, hear, and learn their very best. Thanks to the Chelan Lions Club for making it possible!

Our 5th graders had a blast during their recent Apple Tree music activity! 🎵

Split into three instrument groups, students practiced keeping a steady beat, played 8th note patterns on xylophones, and worked on proper mallet grip and drum techniques — all while collaborating with partners. A fun and rhythmic way to review a variety of instruments!

🐟 Our third graders had an unforgettable day at Salmonfest!

They joined hundreds of local students exploring science, nature, and Native culture at Rocky Reach Dam. From hands-on learning to the traditional Salmon Dance, it was a powerful celebration of how the Columbia River connects us all. 🌊💙

Thank you to everyone who made this outdoor classroom come alive!

One of the highlights of this month was when Manson’s high school history teacher, Brad Soliday, traveled to the Stehekin School District to teach a fly fishing lesson, giving students a unique chance to connect with the outdoors through hands-on learning. By sharing his passion and expertise, he helped students build skills in patience, focus, and problem-solving while fostering an appreciation for the natural environment around them. This experience is a great example of how community partnerships extend beyond our own school walls, strengthening connections and creating meaningful opportunities for students in our wider region.
