What does life after graduation actually look like? For Manson High School students, the answer is becoming clearer—thanks to hands-on college and career experiences that go far beyond the classroom. Through Manson GEAR UP, students are stepping onto college campuses, exploring career pathways, and beginning to picture themselves in their next chapter.
On January 20, a small group of juniors and seniors interested in mechanics and automotive careers traveled to Wenatchee Valley College for a customized campus visit. Students toured the Automotive Technology shop, met directly with the program director, and learned about admissions and financial aid. More importantly, they got to ask real questions and see real work in action. For many students, the visit connected what they’re learning in class to tangible, in-demand careers they could pursue after high school.
Later in the month, on January 28, GEAR UP took seniors who have applied to the University of Washington on a full-day visit to Seattle. Students met with faculty and staff, explored academic buildings, and toured the expansive campus. They also rode the light rail and explored nearby neighborhoods—gaining practical insight into navigating city life. For several students, it was their first time visiting UW, making the experience especially meaningful as they consider where they might feel most comfortable and supported.
These experiences highlight Manson High School’s commitment to post-secondary readiness through early exposure, personalized guidance, and real-world learning. By seeing themselves on campuses and in career-focused environments, students aren’t just learning about their options—they’re building confidence and momentum toward a future they can truly envision.
