A boy getting an eye exam..

In May, Dr. Pearson and his team from the Eye See Clinic made their biannual visit to Manson Schools, bringing much-needed vision care directly to our students. Eye See Clinic, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has served over 1,500 students across rural Washington since its founding in 2022.

Access to eye exams in rural communities is often extremely limited—sometimes nearly impossible. Thanks to a generous grant from the SEVA Foundation, Eye See Clinic now operates a fully equipped Mobile Vision Clinic that travels to underserved areas throughout the state. This mobile clinic provides essential services such as vision screenings, eye exams, prescription eyeglasses, functional vision evaluations, and remote therapy options for vision-related issues.

At each visit, Dr. Pearson is able to conduct eye exams for approximately 20 students. With assistance from a school volunteer and Manson’s dedicated school nurse, Mrs. Rogge, students are able to select eyeglass frames immediately after their exams. Dr. Pearson then orders the glasses, which are delivered to Mrs. Rogge for distribution to the students.

Early identification and treatment of visual impairments are critical. Vision problems in school-age children—ranging from low vision and color blindness to more severe conditions—can significantly affect learning, development, social interaction, and emotional well-being. Symptoms such as squinting, frequent headaches, or difficulty reading are often overlooked, but they can be important indicators of vision issues.

We are incredibly fortunate to partner with Eye See Clinic and receive this vital service right here at school—no long drives, no months-long waitlists. It’s a tremendous support for our students’ academic success and overall health. We extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Pearson, the Eye See Clinic, and the SEVA Foundation for making this possible.
