Sign in online

Manage your account info online including recent activity, billing options, and family settings. Here's how:
- Go to the Microsoft account page and select Sign in with Microsoft.
- Enter your emaill address or phone number and password.
- To save your Microsoft account and password on your PC so that you don't have to sign in every time, select the Keep me signed in check box.
To sign in to Outlook.com to access your Outlook, Hotmail, Live, or MSN email account:
- Go to the Outlook.com page and select Sign in.
- Enter your email address or phone number and select Next.
- On the next page, enter your password and select Sign in.

Sign in on Windows 10

Sign in to your Microsoft account on your Windows 10 device to sync your settings and Microsoft Store purchases across all your devices. You can set up a new device with your Microsoft account, or if you already made a user account, follow these steps to add your Microsoft account:
- Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accounts > Email & app accounts.
- Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
- Follow the prompts to switch to your Microsoft account.

Download and install or reinstall Office 365 or Office 2019 on a PC or Mac

Before you begin, make sure your PC or Mac meets the system requirements.

Tip: The steps below are for Office 365 and Office 2019. For help installing older versions, see 2016, 2013, 2010, 2011, or 2007.

Office for home Some Office for home products come with a product key. If yours did, before installing Office for the first time, sign in with an existing or new Microsoft account and enter your product key at office.com/setup. Redeeming your key is what links your account with Office so you only have to do this once. Already did this? Go to Step 1.

Office for business If your Office for business subscription plan includes the desktop version of the Office apps you won't see an option to install it unless someone in your organization assigned a license to you. Learn how to check this in What Office 365 product or license do I have? Office 365 admins responsible for this, see Assign licenses to users.

Step 1: Sign in to download Office

Go to www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.

Note: If you bought Office for personal use through your company's Microsoft HUP benefit, you may not be able to sign in here. Find installation help at Install Office through HUP.
Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or school account.

After signing in, follow the steps that match the type of account you signed in with.

You signed in with a Microsoft account
1. From the Office home page select Install Office.
2. Select Install. (For Office 365 subscribers, you may be on the Overview page and need to select Install Office> first.)
  
  The 64-bit version is installed by default. However, if Office detects you have a previously installed 32-bit version, this version will be installed instead.
  
  Note: If you want to install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office, but this is different from what you previously installed, you need to uninstall Office first.
  
  You can then select the version you want. Select Other options, and choose the language and the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office, and then select Install.

You signed in with a work or school account
1. From the Office 365 home page select Install Office apps (If you set a different start page, go to aka.ms/office-install.)
2. Select Office to begin the installation.
  
  The 64-bit version is installed by default. However, if Office detects you have a previously installed 32-bit version, this version will be installed instead. (Note: The link may say Office 2016, however Office will install the most up-to-date version of the Office apps as set by your Office 365 admin.)
  
  Note: If you want to install a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office, but this is different from what you previously installed, you need to uninstall Office first.
  
  You can then select the version you want. Select Other install options, your language, and then under Version select Advanced, and choose 64-bit or 32-bit, and then select Install.

Office should now begin downloading. Follow the prompts in Step 2 to complete the installation.

Don't see an install option after signing in? There could be an issue with your account. Select Need help? from above and review the section Account questions.

Step 2: Install Office

Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).

If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes.

The install begins.
Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Office is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find Office applications on your computer. Select Close.

Follow the instructions in the window to find your Office apps. For example depending on your version of Windows, select Start and then scroll to find the app you want to open such as Excel or Word, or type the name of the app in the search box.

Step 3: Activate Office

Start using an Office application right away by opening any app such as Word or Excel. Can't find Office after installing?

In most cases, Office is activated once you start an application and after you click Accept to agree to the License terms.

When you start an Office app that's not activated, you'll be prompted to sign in to Office. Be sure to sign in using the Microsoft account, or work or school account, that you used to buy or subscribe to Office.

How to Save to OneDrive

Using the OneDrive website

Depending on the web browser you use, you can upload files up to 20 GB in size.

Note: For transferring large files or lots of files, we recommend adding the files to the OneDrive desktop app rather than the using Upload button on the website.

On the OneDrive website sign in with your Microsoft account, and then browse to the location where you want to add the files.
Select Upload.
Select the files you want to upload, and then select Open.

Tips:

You can also drag files from File Explorer straight to your files on the OneDrive website.
In the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser, you can also upload folders from the Folder option on the Upload menu, or drag folders to the website.

Using File Explorer to copy or move files to OneDrive

You can copy or move files between folders within OneDrive, or from other folders on your computer. When you move files, you're removing them from your PC and adding them to OneDrive. Drag files from the file list in the right pane to OneDrive in the left pane.

In Windows 10

In new installations of Windows 10 for many eligible users, files save to OneDrive by default in Windows 10, rather than to your PC. This means you can access those files from any device that can connect to the Internet, and they are protected in case your computer is ever damaged. You can change your default save setting anytime. In Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1

You can add files and folders to OneDrive automatically from your PC without having to go to the OneDrive website. Files you add to OneDrive this way can be up to 20 GB in size.

Using the OneDrive desktop app

If you have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or a Mac, you can install the free OneDrive desktop app to upload files and folders to OneDrive automatically. Files you upload using the desktop app can be up to 20 GB in size.

You can upload files to OneDrive using the OneDrive mobile app for Android, iOS, or Windows Phone. To learn how, see:

In any Office document, select File > Save As, choose your OneDrive, and then pick the folder where you want to save the file.

How to set up a OneNote Notebook

Create a notebook

Start with a single notebook. You can create additional notebooks for different subjects or projects whenever you want.

Open OneNote for Windows 10.

Tip: If you have multiple versions of OneNote on Windows 10, see What's the difference between OneNote and OneNote 2016?
Click the Show Notebooks button .
At the bottom of the list that opens, click the + Notebook button.
Type a name for the notebook in the Notebook Name box.
Click Create Notebook.

Open a notebook

Aside from creating your own notebooks, you can open notebooks that someone else has created and shared.

Click the Show Notebooks button .
In the list that opens, click More Notebooks.
In the More Notebooks window, select any notebook in the list, and then click Open Notebook.

Don’t see the notebook you’re looking for? Click Add Account and then sign in with the account where your notebooks are stored.

Switch between open notebooks

OneNote lets you keep several notebooks open at once and it’s easy to switch between them.

Click the Show Notebooks button .
In the list of open notebooks, click the notebook you want to work in.

To return to the previous notebook (or any other notebook that you’ve opened before), repeat the preceding steps.
