Manson Volleyball Wins State Championship
Thursday proved to be a historic night for Manson Volleyball as they not only captured their first ever state volleyball championship, but in the process claimed the schools first ever state title in any sport. Manson cruised to a 3-0 win over Lind-Ritzville-Sprague in the championship match winning by scores of 25-15, 25-15, and 25-21.
On their way to the state 2B title, Manson posted tourney wins over Kalama, Okanogan, Colfax, and Lind-Ritzville-Sprague. The Trojans will return a strong team next year as they lose only two seniors in Natalee Reyna and Teagan Byquist.
Manson Coach Hayli Thompson was all smiles in the post game celebration and said she was so proud of how the team performed. Several of the players commented that this was the goal they had worked so hard to accomplish.
It was a tremendous accomplishment and a true team effort. Junior Stella Petersen was the tournaments dominant hitter and junior libero Genesis Torres was a defensive stalwart. The State Championship finishes a perfect season for Manson as they end the year unbeaten at 24-0.
