Manson 3rd-5th grade students are participating in a 3-week curriculum on bike safety in partnership with the North Central ESD, Cascade Bicycle Club, and the WSDOT. This Statewide School-Based Bicycle Safety Education Program was created to develop students’ skills and street safety knowledge to be more confident bicyclists for transportation and/or recreation. A trailer full of bikes has been delivered to the school and is kept on site while P.E. teacher, Mr. Fox instructs this course. So far students have learned how to properly fit a helmet, get into the power pedal position, use correct hand signals and they can demonstrate a proper left-right-left safety look before crossing an intersection.
