3rd Grade Learns About Habitats!

Third graders have been learning that amphibians are under threat due to land development interrupting their habitat.  In an attempt to mimic the amphibian tunnels that are being created to try to preserve these animals, students created Roly Poly tunnels to try to find a safe way for their bugs to cross the road. Students enjoyed learning about the pill bugs and trying to create tunnels that would retain moisture and guide the bugs in the safest way to cross the roadway. They brought their bugs outside, dropped them in their homemade habitats and watched in awe as many of them made it safely through the tunnel and out the other side.
