MANSON — The first Lake Chelan Shore to Shore Marathon was a shade unassuming in the beginning. A total of 76 runners — 23 marathoners and 53 half-marathoners — toed the starting line at the inaugural race held on Sept. 15, 2001.
Today, the event attracts more than 600 runners annually to a shoreline setting that Runner’s World magazine calls one of the most scenic in the United States.

All three runs (a 10K was added to the mix in 2014) are on point-to-point courses and participants are treated to generous views of the lake as well as of the North Cascades, rolling foothills, and numerous vineyards and orchards. The finish for all three runs is at Manson Bay on the lake and within a block of Manson’s quaint downtown.
