Keitlyn Watson of Olympia has accepted the position for new Manson Elementary School principal.
After conducting a hiring process that included employee, parent and community input, Manson School District has decided on its new elementary school principal.
Keitlyn Watson of Olympia has been offered and has accepted the position.
Ms. Watson is currently working in the Olympia School District as a fifth grade teacher and principal intern. Her 11 years of elementary teaching experience will serve her well in her new role.
Prior to teaching, she worked in the forestry/conservation field and was a research analyst with the Washington State Legislature. As a youth she lived in many locations around the world, including high school in Ecuador and middle school in Spain, as her father worked for the U.S. Foreign Service.
She speaks some Spanish and is excited to update her skills. She also brings “small town” credibility, having lived for several years in Chewelah, Washington, where her children attended elementary school.
Ms. Watson will officially begin in her new role in August 2016, however, she is already planning to visit and work with current principal Dr. Heather Ireland this school year and also hopes to spend time with key staff in preparation for a successful start to the 2016-17 school year.
Ms. Watson remarked, “I am overjoyed at the opportunity to work in what is obviously a great school in a beautiful community!”
