Free Lunch: The Community Eligibility Provision
Free Lunch: The Community Eligibility Provision Thanks to the federal Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, many schools across the country are now able to provide free breakfast and lunch to ALL students without requiring applications to the Free and Reduced Lunch program! The program is referred to as the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP. This means that all students will receive free breakfast and lunch. To qualify for the CEP, schools must meet certain federal criteria. Students will still need to provide their ID number in the cafeteria for tracking purposes. Students who bring their own lunch and wish to purchase milk will still need to pay for their milk ($0.25).
