Alex Escalera scored 16 points | This was another great game for the Trojan’s! We came out and executed offensively and defensively to jump out to a 30 to 10 halftime lead, and from there we never looked back. We played with intensity and kept playing hard throughout the game.
Again the three seniors led the team in scoring combining for 41 points. Alex Escalera had 16, Schuyler Neff 13, and Ruben Guillen had 12. They’ve been doing a great job all year leading this team. The experience they gained playing last year has allowed us to be confident in our play this year.
There are still some things we need to work on before playing Oroville on Friday, Jan. 15th but I’m confident we can make the adjustments and be ready to go at Oroville.
I can’t say enough about the chemistry of this team, all 10 players are very close and they want to win for each other. It makes a huge difference on the court.

Hailey Ellsworth scored 11 points | Tonight was another rough game for us on the scoreboard, but at the same time the girls did a good job of improving on things that we have been working on. At times we did a much better job of breaking the press as that has been one of our weaknesses. Once again the girls worked extremely hard throughout the entire game and never gave up. It was good to see the girls learn from their mistakes and fix them as the game went along.
At first the girls were trying to play the pace that Liberty Bell wanted to play at, as the game moved along the girls learned that they too could control the tempo; which really helped us. Yessenia Escoto and Angelica Suarez in particular played well they both played their best games of the year to date. Angelica had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 point. Yessenia had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Hailey Ellsworth had another all around game with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Cheyanne McFadden played very well on defense for us tonight. Veronica Vanderholm came up with 4 points and 7 rebounds. Ofelia Rodriguez had 2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Thalia Lepley played hard post defense. Jackie Guillen had 2 rebounds. Sierra Miller had 2 steals.
Liberty Bell is a very good team that is very well coached; the girls shouldn't hang their heads after this loss. Liberty Bell has some of the best players in the league if not the state. They got a great game from the defending league mvp (Shelby Scott.) She had 19 points going 2-2 from the line and hitting 1 three-pointer. Ryleigh Ferrill, their rebounding machine, also chipped in with 8 points. Bailey Bradshaw, their primary ball-handler, played very well for them; when she is on the floor there are very few turnovers on their part. Mariah Clements also had a big game for them with 8 points including 1 three-pointer.
This Liberty Bell team shows just how tough our league is for the girls. From top to bottom everyone can be competitive, and hopefully we will get after Oroville on Friday and get going towards districts next month.
